There is no app that can not that. However, the method you need to follow, is to actually open those folders and manually check to see if there are any mails in it that you want. Whether it is Gmail or any other: Go into the spam box and check mark the item you wish to keep. Click on the 'Not spam' button and it will be returned to your in box, also allowing that address to be delivered to the in box from now on. However, go in periodically and check to insure all items are spam.
Also, make sure that address is in your address book, as it helps to ensure that address as a "safe" one.

Go into the 'trash' box and check mark the item you wish to keep. Click on the 'Move' button, click on the 'inbox' link and it will be returned to your in box.
If any mail was permanently deleted, it is long gone and lost to you forever. They can not be retrieved. If there are any mails you are not sure of, make a folder to hold them in until you are sure. So check first, delete last.

It's a pretty simple thing to do. You just need to plug in your monitor, and the display will by default appear as a second desktop with nothing on it. You can adjust things like resolution, location and more in the displays section in System Preferences

First run a windows update and then look for drivers on the HP website. My guess you are looking for a chipset driver that supports USBs. Also make sure you safely remove hardware when you want to unplug a USB device. You should have an icon in the lower right. When you hold your mouse pointer over it should say Safely Remove Hardware. Once you have done the updates/drivers then reboot and try the USBs.

This is my first new laptop in several years, and my first Toshiba. When I ordered this, I didn't realize it was the 25th anniversary edition, and about the only feature this doesn't have is the backlit keyboard. It has an eco-friendly mode to minimize energy use, the ability to turn on and off the touchpad if you're using a mouse, and a light for the touchpad to indicate if it is off or on. It also has a hardrive lock out feature where it will lock if it detects movement in the computer to prevent damage to it.
I'm still playing with the face recognition software, that is about the only thing I have had any problems with so far -more user induced than the computer. It has a gorgeous picture and plays digital videos like a charm, with an HDMI cable it transfers the image to my tv without losing image or sound quality. It was great to have on a last minute trip to help keep my son occupied watching movies. The SD card slot in the front is great, I had to borrow someone's camera and pulled all of our pictures off their SD card and can go back to edit them once I get the chance.
I am also liking the Windows 7 operating system so much better than Vista, and the Toshiba software add ins make for quick navigation back to what I use the most often. For the size of this laptop, I was pleasantly surprised at its weight- much lighter than my old Dell. I'm also loving the i5 processor for when I am editing multiple large documents in both Word and Adobe= no hang up like on my tower.

Rating:
This computer is a GEM.

The screen is wider and shorter (which takes a bit of getting used to after having two other very SQUARE screens) but, I'm adjusted to that now.

The touchpad is way too spazzy with all of the "capabilities" which actually "handicap" you, but, that's easy to fix, just click on your synaptics pointing device properties, click the "Device Settings tab" and click the "settings" button to disable that gawdawful "one finger scrolling" and nightmarish "pinch zoom". UGH!

The wireless hooked up like a dream. No problems there and it was able to connect to my older wireless router without a hiccup. (*phew*)!

Windows 7 is a bit of a pain to tweak to your own taste but doable once you google some windows 7 tweak sites.

The webcam is really crisp (yes, you have to take the plastic off of it first though lol). I haven't tried the face recognition stuff yet, because, I really don't care about that, but, it works great in yahoo messenger. The computer loads with the webcam application loading up which is annoying, but all you have to do is right click on it and uncheck "autorun". No big shwing. If you want the webcam app back again, just type "web camera application" in your start bar and then right click on the app and pin it to your start menu or taskbar so it's always available to re-start up when you want it (you can move the app to either side of your computer once it's loaded btw).

The lit "Quickie" 'touch' buttons are very convenient and are listed in order:

Power button

Eco utility button

Wireless on/off button

Lighting on/off button (looks like an arrow)

Pause/Play button (which controls media player and other video/audio apps)

Mute/unmute button

-volume down button
+volume up button

(Also, be sure to take the plastic off of that too).

The Toshiba HDD protection is WAY too sensitive and annoying but you can adjust those settings via the icon in the taskbar.

There are only THREE 'regular' USB ports, but, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my external hard-drives that normally use two ports for power only need to use ONE on this machine!

The memory-card reader is built into the FRONT of the machine which is kind of dorky if you have it on your lap, but, otherwise, it works great even with my much older memory cards.

ALL of my .avi movies played seamlessly with great video and sound without having to load codecs and other extras! THAT was a huge [surprise] BONUS!

The sound is good for a laptop (not great, but, again, it's a laptop).

The video is AMAZING and the bright screen ROCKS! Compared to my 3+ year old Gateway laptop, it's night and day. With my old machine, I could barely see my laptop screen in the morning under my skylights, but, with this machine it's clear and super bright!

You have plenty of function+ keys and having a number keypad is very handy as well.

Making a partition for my hard-drive was super-fast and easy.

I've only owned this for a couple of weeks, but, so far I am really pleased.

Be sure to make backup DVDs before you do ANYTHING! Use Recovery media creator (it will take approx. five dvds). Be aware this utility will restore your computer back to what the factory installed (operating system plus programs and drivers) and is NOT an ISO image. There is a separate windows ISO image utility for that.

Oh and Norton Security SUCKS and will really slow down your machine's performance! Microsoft makes a free anti-virus/trojan utility called "Microsoft Security Essentials" and once you are "protected" you can google for better rated anti-virus programs or stick with MSE.

Good luck and happy computing! =0)

I just purchased this laptop, and I do like its features as well as the fact that its surface is no longer like older finger-print magnets that Toshiba has recently put out. I'm having some problems with the webcam though, as the images that come out are very fuzzy and hazy and the color is very much off. Has anyone encountered the same problem or could this be a problem with the unit I got? Can it be remedied by tweaking some program on the laptop I haven't quite discovered yet? Or should I return the unit and ask for a replacement? Would very much appreciate the help. Thanks.

I just purchased this laptop, and I do like its features as well as the fact that its surface is no longer like older finger-print magnets that Toshiba has recently put out. I’m having some problems with the webcam though, as the images that come out are very fuzzy and hazy and the color is very much off. Has anyone encountered the same problem or could this be a problem with the unit I got? Can it be remedied by tweaking some program on the laptop I haven’t quite discovered yet? Or should I return the unit and ask for a replacement? Would very much appreciate the help. Thanks.

I must say this machine impressed me. It is very peppy, and all the features just work. The best part about it is that it did not come with tons of bloatware. The keyboard is very good, and in my opinion has no keyboard flex. There is a full number pad, and it does not weigh as much as it appears to weigh, meaning this is a pretty big machine. The sound out of the speakers is very crisp, it is also pretty loud if need be. it handles multimedia with ease. It does not have the most advanced graphics card, but for basic media it is more than adequate. I get about two and a half hours of battery life, but that will differ depending on the power settings used.I chose this over the i7 model, which is not much more, because I felt this was a good power to battery life ratio. Last but not least the machine feels sturdy, and the hard drive protection works great, it seems to sense vibrations very well. If you are on the fence of purchasing a laptop, and comparing this to something else I would suggest this one. I could not recommend this enough.

Rating:
I am about to course a Master in Germany in Engineering, and I was looking for a laptop that could stand the exigency that a career in Engineering demands. This means, a decent video card (Nvidia 310) for my 3D modeling software, specialy Solidworks, a fast processor (Intel i5) por multitasking and calculations. And so far I can not complain, this laptop does all of these tasks very smoothly. But in particular, it is the new i5 processor what worths the money here. Believe me, if you are one of those like me that had a dilema between the cheaper i5, or put an extra money to get a laptop with i7, save that money, because i5 is more than enough for high speed demanding tasks (and remember I use engineering programs). I guess that if you are into multimedia editing of large videos and photos at the same time, then i7 would be your best choice. But for the rest 85% percent of us that will never take full advantage of this processor, it is just not worth it.

But I was also looking for a entertainment center for my 2 year academic program. This means, that I wanted something that could gather TV, DVD, Music, Nice resolution (1366 x 768, it is not 1080p, but you wont even notice), nice grapchics card and nice speakers in one laptop. And this Toshiba Satellite A665 S6055 does it all. DVD movies play very smoothly and vivid, plus the awesome sound coming from this pair of stereo Harman/Kardon speakers, which are very loud and crisp. I even use them as portable speakers to play my Zune thanks to "Sleep and music" feature.

Not to mention the design, limited edition because of the 25th anniversary. It is just beautifull and very stylish, less prone to fingerprints, the keyboard is great because the keys are a little separated one from each other and it is very confortable to type in. The numeric 10 pad is an useful add-on for a person like me that use numers the whole day. Windows 7 is a nice tool, I am just getting used to it, but certainly is so much better than Vista.

This A665 series laptop is so low priced, not because of lower performance, but because of lower hard drive capacity (who needs more than 285 GB?) and for having an Nvidia 310 instead of a 330M (If you are not a hard gamer, the 310 is perfect). So, for the price, this is an awesome entertaining/working laptop, REALLY fast, Big screen yet portable that I highly reccomend.

Review by King for ASUS UL80Vt-A1 14-Inch Thin and Light Black Laptop (11.5 Hours of Battery Life)
Rating:
I went through a long, 6-month search before I finally settled on the ASUS UL80Vt. As a college student, I had many seemingly contradictory criterion. I wanted:
- Core 2 Duo processor and 4GB of RAM, for general productivity
- Long battery life, for working on campus and in class
- Decent portability, for carrying it around all the time
- Discrete graphics, for the occasional game
- CD Drives, USB ports and HDMI, because connectivity is important

Like any college student, I looked at MacBooks, Dells and the idea of a netbook/desktop setup, but for the net $720 I got this computer for, the ASUS UL80Vt blew them away. On to the review...

PRODUCTIVITY SPEED: 8/10
A little technical note: At stock speeds, the Core2Duo SU7300 is a 1.3 GHz processor with a 800Mhz FSB. Asus overclocks this to a 1.73 GHz on a 1066Mhz FSB, matching the 4GB of DDR3 DRAM. For those who, like me, were deciding between this and laptops with faster processors, you will not notice the difference with most software. Microsoft Office works like a charm, even on massive Excel financial models and graphic presentations. Web browsing is quick even with the 11 tabs I have open right now. The only time I've noticed faster Core 2 Duos matter was on extracting large RAR files, and even then the difference is less than a minute for a 4GB file.

PHYSICAL PORTABILITY: 7/10
Definitely heavier and larger than I expected. The 14-inch screen is balanced with a decent bezel on the top and bottom. The 8-cell battery weighs a lot more than it looks. However, it is definitely smaller and lighter than the MacBook Pro. It is also very thin, topping at slightly more than 1 in. It weighs in at 4.74 lbs., and I would say is actually light for its power. However, this is not as much a Thin-and-Light as others in its class, so do adjust your expectations.

BATTERY LIFE: 11/10
Incredible battery life. On integrated graphics, I regularly get 9 hours with 30% brightness, overclocked and WLAN on, surfing the web and taking notes. 11.5 hours may actually be realistic without the overclocking or WLAN. I've watched two full-length 720p movies and still had 25% left. On the discrete graphics, you can get 3 hours of solid gaming before you're drained. This blows netbooks, MacBooks, Dells, etc. away. Simply unbelievable.

GAMING: 8/10
This laptop has both integrated Intel graphics and a discrete nVidia G210M with 512MB of memory. I have mine slightly overclocked, and it gets 4000 points on 3DMark06 with the discrete card. Can play Dragon Age, Civilization 4, Sims 3, NBA 2K9, Warcraft III and WoW with at least medium settings at native resolution. This is probably not important to most people but I love having the flexibility to play games or play movies more smoothly with the discrete graphics. This is not a gaming rig, but can play most modern games well enough.

PORTS AND CONNECTIVITY: 8/10
It has a DVD SuperDrive (burns DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, Double-Layer), 3 USB ports, an Ethernet port, a 4-in-1 memory card reader (MMC, SD, MS/MS Pro), and HDMI port, a VGA port, a microphone jack and a mic jack. It also has a 0.3 megapixel webcam and mic integrated. There's an integrated b/g/n WLAN solution, although it is not as strong as the Intel ones. A solid selection, especially on such a thin laptop. The only gripes here are the lack of eSATA and Bluetooth.

WARRANTY & SUPPORT: 10/10
2 year limited warranty with 1 year of accidental damage protection. Most laptops just come with 1 year of limited warranty. In general, extended warranties are not worth the cost, but in this case it's a welcome plus. Asus has also been very helpful with a solid support site and staff who answer questions even here.

TEMPERATURE: 10/10
Does not burn your lap. Stays very very cool. Right now the CPU is at about 98F, hard drives at 104F and the ACPI is at 118F. On load, CPU hits 130F and the GPU's have hit 180F, but still feels very cool to the touch. Can get a bit warm near the fan area on full load, but normally the fan doesn't even need to turn. The fan is also very quiet; even on max load it only has a soft hum.

Finally... to address some common gripes

BUILD QUALITY: 6/10
Definitely the weak point of this computer. Quality is not as subpar as most reviewers would have it--most laptops not called ThinkPads have some flex and give--but definitely give. The bezel is not entirely cemented to the screen, and there's a lot of give right below the screen. Keyboard flex is fine by itself; it seems extreme when you're on a desk, but that's because the entire chassis flexes when it's slightly raised. That in itself is the bigger problem. On the bottom, the two chassis halves are not cemented well together, and there is some give there. I bought a padded laptop sleeve which seems to protect it fine. I would not put too much weight on the keyboard when it's on a desk (as opposed to on your lap).

DISPLAY: 8/10
To be fair, it's a standard 1366x768 screen, plays 720p videos fine. It's a very bright LED screen, and can outshine the outdoors even though the screen is very glossy. The noted contrast problems are really a device driver problem; on integrated graphics, contrast will sometimes decrease noticeably, perhaps in a play to reduce necessary brightness. On discrete graphics, great contrast, sharp screen.

AUDIO: 7/10
Altec Lansing speakers located on the bottom of the front of the chassis. By no means audiophile-quality at all, but much better than most laptop speakers. You will sometimes block the speakers while it's on your lap, but in general distortion is lower than in, for example, ThinkPads, and volume is better than a Mac's.

In conclusion, I am highly satisfied with this purchase. If there were better speakers and better build quality, I would award this product 10/10, but as of now I am willing to rate it a 9/10 and round up. Amazon was also very helpful; I was allowed to still purchase through the $100 Gift Card promotion even after the link stopped working.

For those interested in the next generation, the UL80Jt incorporates a low-voltage dual-core Core i7 overclocked to 1.73 Ghz and an nVidia 310M with 1GB. It promises even better performance and battery life, but will clock in at just over $1,000.
To be fair, it’s a standard 1366×768 screen, plays 720p videos fine. It’s a very bright LED screen, and can outshine the outdoors even though the screen is very glossy.

You will sometimes block the speakers while it’s on your lap, but in general distortion is lower than in, for example, ThinkPads, and volume is better than a Mac’s.
