I put this in a room with a double-hung window, which means the window can be opened from the top or bottom. I live in post housing, so I don’t have a lot of options with making changes to my home, or making repairs. The window in my daughters’ room opens a little from the bottom, but not very much. So I tend to just use the top portion of the window. I had to turn the fan upside down so that it would fit properly, and it doesn’t seem to have been a problem. The cord still reaches to the outlet.
I would prefer if the cord were more to the left or right of the unit…just b/c I have a cord hanging straight down the middle of my window, which looks a little messy, and makes me worry my kids might grab it during play. They’re old enough to know not to play with cords…but if they tripped, it might get grabbed, which concerns me. Their room does stay cool with the fan, and thats great b/c its the top floor that seems to always be a tad warmer than is comfortable.
I haven’t used a lot of the features…I pretty much just set it at 3 & leave it. I do take it out of the window at night…because the vertical blinds (installed by housing, I can’t change these) must be open for it to be in use. There is a hill behind our house…where there are more houses. So anyone could see in quite easily, I just feel better with the blinds closed after dark. Without the sound of the fan to cover outside night noises, my kids turn into scared chickens at every little sound they hear. So out the fan comes so the window can be closed.
This is the first spring/summer season I will be in this part of the country (I’m from Florida…where Central A/C is in EVERY home, lol), so I guess I am just getting to the part of the year where we’ll need this. The upstairs isn’t ventilated well, and ONE room has a wall unit A/C, but the cool can’t spread to the other rooms. If there are changes or adjustments that need to be made over the season, I’ll be sure to update in case anyone is following.

Love this window fan – best feature is the remote. no longer have to get out of bed to adjust or turn off if it starts to get to cold or if I want to turn it down to hear tv better.

This is a great product! Both my husband and I are smokers and we use this fan in the kitchen window to take the smoke out of the house. We had another Bionaire for about 4-5 years and finally one of the twin fans quit working so we purchased this one. Because the price had increased since our last purchase, I checked out other window fans but the Bionaire was the only one that had a remote and I remembered the old saying – “you get what you pay for,” and we were very happy with our original Bionaire Remote Twin Window Fan, so we purchased this one and it lives up to our expectations. The only drawback is that it cannot be taken apart to clean the blades, but other than that, it’s quiet and efficient.

This fan is very efficient, the remote is very handy,it is very quiet and moves a lot of air,the exhaust feature is nice…
the only drawbacks are no off and on with the remote without cycling through the speeds also unable to shut off just one fan they both have to run…A well made very usable fan …no regrets
I bought it to remove smoke from my man cave garage
After having so many cheap window fans break after one year’s use, I decided to spend a little more and get a really good one.
Since my new living room air conditioner is remote-controlled, I thought I’d be lazy and get a new twin fan that also had a remote. It’s great to not have to get up off the couch and switch between the air conditioner and the fan, as the temperature and humidity changes.
I read many reviews here on Amazon before purchasing this unit, and I made the right choice. I have it set with one fan intake, the other exhaust. I can’t believe how well it really cools! Also, not that it really matters, but it’s a great-looking unit, too. (Hey, some people care about this, lol!)
The only annoying thing is having to cycle through all the settings to turn it off. Someone else posted this, so I knew in advance. It didn’t stop me from buying it, but yes, it’s annoying. In a perfect world there would be one button for regular use and a second button for thermostat use. Each button would cycle as follows: ON – HIGH – MEDIUM – LOW – OFF. If the buttons remembered their last settings, it would be even better. But this is not a perfect world. ;-
